We regret to inform you that due to circumstances beyond our control, there will not be an annual bridge lighting this year. As many of you may know, the City of Sumner has been preparing to replace the Stuck River Bridge. Because of this, a large portion of the parking lot will be fenced off to make room for construction materials. Construction has begun as of July 2017, and currently we are unsure of how long the process will take to complete the construction.
The tradition of lighting the Stuck River Bridge started 19 years ago. The first year, we had roughly 100 people in the parking lot, anxiously awaiting the bridge’s debut. Last year, the number of spectators grew to over 5,000. We will surely miss the vendor village, fireworks, and lighting of the bridge this year. But, we are excited to see how this celebration will evolve once the new bridge is in place.
While we will not have a Bridge Lighting Ceremony, we will still be celebrating the holidays Old Cannery Style! On Black Friday, we invite you to join us with your friends and family for your complimentary photos with Santa. We will also be doing other great things in the store! We plan on making a lot of memories this year, and invite you to join us in the fun!
We would like to thank the City of Sumner, Sunset Chevrolet, Columbia Bank, & the Windmill Gardens for being our partners in Bridge Lighting. We anxiously await our next opportunity to work together.
